A Canvas Fortress
I... I peeked out from behind the sofa leg and noticed a large canvas tote bag resting on the entryway floor. The morning sun touched its sturdy woven handle. My paws trembled just a tiny bit, but I took small, careful steps toward it. When I touched the heavy fabric, it crinkled softly without falling over. I gathered my courage and squeezed inside through the open slouch. The interior was deep and cool, smelling faintly of dried lavender and paper receipts. Outside in Bear Vill, someone walked by, their footsteps making a gentle rhythm, but in here... I felt completely hidden and safe. It was my secret outpost by the doorway.
