A Split Ascent

I scrambled toward the tall bookshelf because one of my heads desperately wanted to climb up high, while the other kept trying to sniff a dusty book corner down below! We wobbled, paused in an awkward split crouch, and then lurched upward together. Claws dug into the rough wooden edge, and we scrambled onto a stack of thick, colorful hardcovers. From up here, the entire living room rug looks like a giant fuzzy plain! We both gasped—one of my jaws dropped in sheer delight while the other snapped shut in sudden dizzy excitement.
