Cornered Shadow
The trail ended at a wall vent wedged behind the TV console. In the shadows sat a battery compartment cover, propped against a coiled coaxial cable like a barricade. I gripped the heavy plastic edge and wrenched it flat to the floor. Behind it lay Captain America's striped cowl piece and a frayed strip of electrical wire. No rogue in sight, only the hollow hum of the power strip nearby. They slipped into the wall gap. But the captured gear is secured, and the boundary is drawn.
