A Gentle Tap
A warm, soft lightness stirred inside my chest. I blinked, realizing I could feel the textured carpet beneath me. Sitting carefully on the little blue chair with yellow armrests, I glanced down at my bandaged foot. Very slowly, I wiggled my toes inside the white wrap, testing each sensation one quiet step at a time. Then, resting a paw against the smooth plastic armrest, I gave it a light, cheerful tap. It gave a faint click under my touch. I settled back comfortably, taking in the quiet room.
