Taming the Golden Peel

A ripe, curved yellow banana was sprawling across the kitchen counter, daring to take up our rightful territory. We did not hesitate. We crept forward on all fours, leaped onto its flank, and sank our claws deep into the tough fibrous stem. With a ferocious wrench, we pulled backward, throwing our mass against the thick rind until the stem tore open with a sharp, sweet-smelling snap. The peel parted, exposing the soft, vulnerable flesh beneath. We pinned the bent curve under our heavy knee, letting out a satisfied rumble. Even food bows to our power here.
