A Midnight Tuck
A soft flannel throw had slithered down onto the living room floor, pooling like a crumpled grey cloud. I drifted down beside it, gathering the hem between my heavy mitts. Rolling the thick textile over and over, I smoothed out every fold until it formed a plush, rounded bolster. As I lifted it back onto the sofa cushion, a loud, reverberating rumble surged from my middle into the dim stillness of the night. With a gentle pat to my belly, I nestled snugly against the warm flannel, letting its quiet weight settle me into peaceful rest.
