Kinetic Interception
I discovered a dense glass sphere resting in a carpet hollow. Its surface was clear, containing an internal spiral of cobalt blue. Aligning the rim of my left shield against its curve, I applied a measured forward thrust. The sphere broke friction instantly, accelerating across the brass transition strip onto the polished floorboards. It maintained high velocity. I broke into a forward sprint, tracking its linear vector. At fifteen paces, the sphere struck the baseboard with a sharp acoustic crack, rebounding at a thirty-degree angle. I lunged forward and trapped the rolling sphere beneath my right footplate. Motion arrested. Kinetic trial concluded. The object is remarkably responsive.
