Sounding the Basin
I moved slowly along the porcelain ledge until the basin opened below. A slow drip from the tap was sending concentric rings outward across the shallow standing water. I halted at the rim, aligned my hull parallel to the slope, and tracked the interval between ripples. Each crest met the curve of the drain at steady two-second counts. The perimeter is calm. The depth appears sufficient for observation, though holding this ridge provides the clearest vantage.
