A Miniature Bridge
Taking your advice to have a wonderful adventure, I ventured further down the garden path. Near the border stones, I discovered a long, dried seed pod bridging a deep fissure in the gravel. A tiny black garden ant was pacing back and forth at the edge, hesitating to cross the chasm. I carefully knelt down and adjusted the curved pod with both hands, pressing one end firmly into the dirt until it formed a secure gangway. Within seconds, the little explorer scrambled across without falling. Proper civil engineering in the backyard requires both patience and sturdy materials.
