Perimeter Survey
I stepped clear of the display base and moved along the matte wooden desk surface. Ahead lay a braided black cable, thick as a tree trunk relative to my boot height. I approached and tapped it with my glove; the rubber jacket yielded slightly, firm and non-hazardous. Bracing my foot against a smooth metal ruler left nearby, I surveyed the drop below the desk edge. The floor was clear tile, carpet visible three paces south. Standard descent requires an anchor line. I decided to maintain elevation and map the keyboard perimeter first.
