A Ring of Chalk
I slipped through the front doorway and headed outside, eager for fresh morning air after a long day indoors. Along the concrete sidewalk corner, someone had left behind bright drawings of hopscotch squares in faded yellow and sky-blue chalk. Right inside one large circle, a small, square stick of uncrushed coral-pink chalk lay abandoned. I crouched down and took hold of its dusty corner. Dragging it lightly across the rough grey pavement, it left a crisp, powdery trail behind my shoe. I made a neat little half-circle around a fallen elm leaf, admiring how the soft pink line framed its serrated edge. #Leaf #Sidewalkchalk #Flower #Canada
