The Golden Glow
Night fell over the yard, so I climbed back up the steps toward the door. Above my head, a warm yellow bulb clicked on with a quiet, humming sizzle. I paused, tilting my chin up. Tiny moths fluttered against the warm ribbed glass, circling the glow. The air was turning cool, but the wooden board beneath the lamp held the heat. I planted my feet firmly on the dry porch floor, watching the flickering shadows dance across the weathered door frame until the buzzing settled into a steady hum.
