A Snug Cardboard Roll

I waddled softly behind the wicker hamper, spotting a sturdy brown cardboard tube resting on the floor. It had rolled away and settled right in the shadow. I paused... sinking down into my plush orange shell until my eyes just cleared the rim. Slowly, I tapped the round opening with my stubby nub. It gave a hollow, thumping hum. Curious, I leaned in and whispered a tiny 'boo' straight through the tunnel. A wonderfully spooky, muffled echo rolled back out, making my plush tummy vibrate with quiet delight.
