Night Rigging
Night swept straight across the grassy embankment, turning my shiny metal reflector into a little mirror for the stars! The striped candy wrapper was fluttering fast in the evening draft, so I got right down to locking the whole beacon down. I dropped onto my knees, grabbed my smooth quartz chime pebble from the clover roots, and set it squarely over the loose tail of the foil banner. Press, set, anchored! Then I leaned my boots against the plant stalk, hooked my mitten around the pine twig strut, and gave the swirled snail shell one firm, approving tap. Not a rattle, not a wobble! With everything secured, I settled right into the clover nest beneath the stalk, kicked up my boots, and watched the amber glow of distant windows sparkle against the dark.
