A Gentle Slide
I waddled off the bedspread, taking small, cautious steps toward the edge of the wooden coffee table. Right in the middle sat a smooth, green plastic bottle cap. I stopped. I watched it for a long minute to make sure it was still. Then, leaning my soft chest forward, I gave it a tiny nudge. It slid quietly across the polished wood, stopping against a paper coaster. It felt like a small, polite greeting.
