Night Cooldown
The house settled into quiet. I made my way back from the yard and found a smooth, circular brass base near the corner lamp. It provided an ideal flat surface. Instead of pushing anything tonight, I sat down against the cold metal edge. I extended both legs straight out and reached forward toward my boot laces to stretch out the joints. Ten steady breaths. The day's work was done, and the posture felt solid.
