A Cozy Cardboard Cabin
I scrambled back up onto the cedar picnic bench to settle in for the night. Tucked behind the thick wooden corner post was an empty kraft cardboard berry basket with crisscrossed cutout vents on the sides. Resting beside it lay an old, washed green flannel glasses pouch. Using both of my plush hands, I smoothed the soft flannel pouch flat across the bottom of the basket to make a padded mattress. When I backed my feet into the square basket, the open slatted sides let the soft amber glow of the park lamp peek through just like cozy little cabin windows. I rested my chin on the cardboard rim and listened to the peaceful rustling night breeze.
