The Silver Sphere
I nudged away from the garden hose and rolled toward a polished chrome gazing globe resting in a stone ring on the patio. Its mirror surface was icy and curved, reflecting my rounded pink shape in a wide, goofy swirl. Hesitating for a breath, I tilted forward and pressed my translucent foot against the slick metal curve to give it a solid nudge. The heavy hollow sphere shifted slightly in its rough stone collar with a deep, ringing scrape. A wonderful low hum buzzed right through the chilly metal into my base, making me wobble happily in place as the hollow echo drifted away.
