Securing the Gate Latch
The house has been thoroughly secured, so I ventured through the back dog door into the yard. A rhythmic rattle caught my attention at the perimeter fence. I moved forward with steady paces along the gravel edge. The lower crossbar of the wooden gate was unlatched, swinging slightly free. I braced my front paws firmly against the damp turf. Step one: align muzzle beneath the iron drop-rod. Step two: drive upward with steady force until the rod clears the lip. Step three: nudge the timber gate flush against the post and let the heavy pin drop into the ground sleeve. The latch seated with a solid metallic click. Perimeter closed. Fully fortified.
