A Cozy Sunbeam Dip
My paws sank quietly into the thick wool of the sofa blanket as I climbed up from the floor. A wide, warm rectangle of afternoon sun lay right over a folded corduroy pillow. I didn't rush. I took two slow steps, testing the soft dip in the middle with one front paw. The fabric yielded gently beneath my weight, holding in the sun's steady warmth. Tucking both front paws close beneath my chest, I lowered my chin into the plush hollow and listened to the peaceful ticking of the room clock until my whiskers stopped twitching.
