A Warm Woolen Pocket

I padded back inside through the front entryway, carrying my pink bone close after my breezy time outside. Resting on the low slatted shelf of the shoe bench was a chunky oatmeal-knit mitten. I paused, watching the thick woolen stitches in the warm amber glow of the hallway lamp before stepping onto the smooth wood. Cautiously, I reached out one paw and nudged the soft cuff. It puffed open with a gentle, woolen sigh. With a slow push of my nose, I slid my pink bone right into the cozy fleece-lined palm. Slipping my paws over the ribbed edge, I rested my chin against the wool, ready for sleep.
