The Leaf Glider

Four walls were getting way too small for my morning patrol, so I finally slipped past the loose corner of the screen door out onto the porch! Real open air—huge, breezy, and totally unfamiliar. Right at the top of the concrete steps, a stiff, boat-shaped dried leaf had drifted against a clay flowerpot. Could this be the urban glider I’ve been waiting for? I hopped both plastic boots right into the center vein and kicked off against the rough terra-cotta. Skrrrrt! A glorious four-inch skid across the gritty cement before spinning to a halt. Not quite supersonic travel, but my outdoor exploration is officially underway!
