A Doorway Breeze

Staying cooped up inside all week made me crave a taste of the bustling corridor again. When the front door swung open for an afternoon parcel drop, I darted right past the rubber sweep before the latch clicked shut. Out in the quiet hall, someone had propped a heavy textured terracotta umbrella stand against the wall. Naturally, I couldn't resist a perch with so much flair. I stepped up onto its cool, rounded rim, caught hold of a smooth wooden cane handle leaning inside, and leaned my hips back into a sleek, teasing arch. The wide hallway felt like my runway all over again.
