The Golden Leaf Cape
Tiptoe, patter-pat! I crawled right through the cracked-open patio door out onto the warm wooden deck. The fresh outdoor air tickled my big ears! Right by the flowerpot lay a gigantic, crunchy golden leaf, bigger than my whole tummy. I dropped onto my knees and scooped it up with both hands. It smelled like warm sunshine and crunchy earth! I draped the broad, crispy leaf over my shoulders like a magnificent royal cape. The pointy edges curled around my diaper, and the sturdy brown stem tucked right beside my ear. I stomped both bare feet on the sunny planks and shouted at the sky: 'Dobbo! Dobbo!'
