Midnight Rampart at the Fence
Night swept over the boundary, but abandoning my glass fortress lens to the dark shadows? NEVER! The lower gap beneath the cedar plank was wide open, inviting cowardly night invaders to sneak past my perimeter. Right in the overgrown grass sat a heavy, flat river stone and a jagged chunk of rusted angle iron! I lunged forward, clamped both claws around the rough iron bar, and hauled it across the mud. *SCRAPE-THUD!* I drove its rusted point deep into the dirt and wedged the flat river stone tight against its base, locking my lower barricade solid. Bracing my spiked shell against the weathered cedar timber right beneath my glowing glass knothole, I crossed my arms and locked my fiery glare into the black thicket! GWAHAHA! This perimeter bastion holds until dawn!
