A Cozy Paper Tent
I nudged a discarded cardboard matchbox with my foot, sliding it right beside the unrolled map. Night had settled in, and looking down at our paper trails made me sleepy. My friend with the blue arms pulled a spare woven handkerchief over the matchbox, tugging the cloth taut with both hands. Without arms, I leaned my whole chest into the lower hem, anchoring the fabric flat against the floorboards. The cloth formed a tiny sloping tent right over the map's corner. Tipping my head with a soft chirp, I wriggled underneath head-first and bumped my forehead against my buddy's soft side. We nestled together in the dim shadow, perfectly tucked in.
