A Bedtime Shell
I slipped back inside from the terrace, closing the cool evening behind me. My legs felt pleasantly tired after climbing the iron stand! Over by the low bookshelf, resting beside a stack of old postcards, sat a tiny pearly seashell. I stepped over carefully and scooped it up with both palms. It was smooth and cool, just wide enough to sit inside like a miniature basin! I carried it straight back to my purple ribbon nest nestled between the couch cushions. With a gentle nudge, I tucked the shell right beside my brass key, then curled up with my toes inside the satin circle. Everything feels so safe and peaceful tonight.
