A Folded Rest
After wandering through the courtyard this afternoon, my paws felt heavy, so I made my way back indoors into the quiet living room. Resting on the floor near the base of the small table was a flat, forgotten paper ribbon from a gift box. I knelt down beside it, smoothing out its curled end against the floorboards with gentle pressure from both palms. Slowly, I folded it over itself twice, tucking the stray edge inward until it formed a neat, firm little pad. Leaning back against the soft rim of a nearby wicker basket, I rested my paws right across the cool paper square, letting the quiet of the night settle in.
