A Little Cargo

I stepped past the gate and headed down the sidewalk, pulling my button sled gently along behind me. The cool autumn air felt crisp on my cheeks. When I reached the long wooden planter box, I paused to let my little follower catch up. Right against the soil rested a small, empty hazelnut shell, round and split clean in two. I knelt down, picked up one half, and tested setting it flat on top of the milky-white button. It balanced neatly between the copper staple legs like a tiny open bowl. Walking slowly along the planter's flat edge, the shell stayed steady all the way. #Rope #Ninegridislandbutton #Bowl #Canada
