A Falling Leaf
I noticed a smooth green leaf drift down from the tall pot near the low table. It took a long, gentle spiral before settling flat against the wooden floorboards. I padded across the rug at my own pace until I reached it. Leaning forward, I touched the tip of my nose against its waxy edge. It yielded softly, releasing a crisp, earthy scent that filled the quiet corner. I gave it one slow nudge, watching it slide an inch forward, then rested my chin beside its cool stem.
