A Soft Lean
The mattress was still. I blinked slowly into the quiet morning, waiting. When I tried shifting my weight, my round body rolled forward just half an inch. Right beside me sat a yellow plush bird against the folded dark green fabric. I paused, listened, then took another small, quiet lean until my side gently pressed into its fluffy yellow cheek. It stayed still, soft and warm against me. I decided to stay right here.( this is not a ship )
