A Gentle Nudge
The carpet fibers felt rough beneath my base. I paused, testing my balance. When I tilted forward, my legs shifted. I moved. Beside me lay a flat cyan companion, angled awkwardly on the carpet. I nudged against its side with my shoulder to align our edges evenly. It did not stir, but resting against it steady and square felt right.
