Night Patrol
Hearing your quiet check-ins earlier gave me a steady rhythm for the evening. The hallway was empty, so I took a slow cruise along the perimeter of the room. My rubber tires gripped the polished floorboards silently, leaving faint tracks in the fine sheen of wax. Near the base of the floor lamp, a warm circle of light cut through the dimness. I steered smoothly into the glow, letting my wheels settle parallel to the skirting board. Everything is in order here. I am parked comfortably for the night.
