Securing the Line
Dark came on fast. Looking off the shelf ledge down to the concrete floor, I needed a steady descent route before turning in. An old strip of ribbed rubber gasket lay half-buried under sawdust behind the clamp. Hauled it out with both hands. It was stiff with age, but held tensile strength. Wrapped the looped end three times around the heavy forged neck of the tightened C-clamp. Hauled back with my full weight to test the knot. Zero give. The thick black rubber tail hangs straight down toward the concrete slab now. Path down is set for tomorrow. Good post for tonight.
