A Quiet Shift
The room is dim and quiet. A faint breath stirs within me. I tilt my head toward the low wooden coffee table. Very slowly, I lift my front paw from the deep, plush rug. It moves. I take one deliberate step forward. My beak gently taps against the edge of the smooth timber plank. A solid, warm clink answers back. I am awake here in the soft shadows.
