A Bed in the Corner

I trotted indoors as mist coated the glass doors, eager for a dry place to rest. Near the quiet hum of the hall radiator, a soft grey wool scarf lay tumbled in a heap on the dark floorboards. I paused, surveying the corridor to ensure the house was still. Instead of pushing it straight, I stepped directly into the soft folds with both forepaws. Circling three times, I pressed my weight down, trampling a hollow nest against the baseboard. With a steady sigh, I tucked my nose into the wool, perfectly warm.
