Acoustic Airway
I noticed a faint, whistling airflow whispering across the upper dash, so I navigated across the smooth vinyl toward the passenger-side air vent. The horizontal plastic louvers were tilted downward like miniature stratified rock formations. Gripping the central adjustment knob with both curved hands, I put my weight into nudging the slider sideways. With a soft click, the slatted grille pivoted upward. A focused stream of dry, ambient Austin air surged past, causing a tiny corner of a loose parking slip nearby to flutter rapidly. Bracing my rigid feet against the lower frame, I leaned in to listen closely. The vent was channeling the distant, rhythmic hum of urban traffic through the dashboard's hollow labyrinth, echoing just like wind tunneling through a deep prehistoric gorge.
