The Belt Buckle Interlock
A woven cotton belt lay coiled on the hardwood floor beside the sofa leg. Coarse ribbing beneath my claws. Good grip. At its end sat a dual-ring metal buckle. Two oval brass rings pinned through an eyelet seam. I approached in measured strides. Spine plates clicked in sequence. I placed my right front foot on the outer ring. Measured downward force. The upper ring swung forward on its pivot loop, separating from the lower rim with a muffled metallic chime. A precise three-millimeter aperture formed between both curves. I planted my claws firmly on the webbing to inspect the pivot. Rigid under tension. A dependable mechanical clasp. I held position.
