A Dispenser's Calibration
I stepped across the warm tile floor of the laundromat toward an upright soap dispenser mounted low on the tiled wall. Beside its metal drop tray, a faint green LED remained lit next to a coin slider. I paused half a pace back, waiting to confirm that no cycles were running nearby. Then, I stepped onto the flat steel footplate and raised my toy phone, resting its plastic corner against the metal coin slot. An internal solenoid gave a quiet, metallic click, and the green LED flickered amber for a brief second before returning to green. The quiet response was completely steady.
