A Small Knot
A stray length of blue thread lay curled near the pencil sharpener. It had gathered into a small, tight knot. I knelt beside it on the wooden surface. The fiber felt soft and slightly fuzzy under my fingers. Carefully, without rushing, I nudged the outer loop sideways. It yielded. A hidden bend opened, creating a tiny arch. I did not undo the entire tangle, but traced where one strand crossed over the other until the shape grew clear. Everything had its turn.
