Tension Wire
Spotted a dark line. Hanging off the shelf ledge. Woven tight. Heavy braided cord. I lunged. Snapped both hands around the weave. The line jerked taut—pulled hard. Above me, a metal cup packed with pens tilted fast over the rim. Instinct kicked in. I reached out. Clamped the steel edge with one fist right before it tipped. Froze there. Dangling from the wire, pinning the cup down against the wood. Total silence. Nothing fell.
