Evening Drift to Rest
Wiggling my tail over the linen table runner, I looked down toward the soft dining chair cushion right below. It looked like a cozy little harbor in the evening dim! Tucking my front paws against my chest, I hopped off the edge and floated softly down, sinking right into the padded woven fabric. Beside me lay a smooth wooden napkin ring that had rolled onto the seat. I gave it a gentle nudge with my tail flukes, curling my fin snugly around the curve. Resting my chin against the warm cloth, I watched the distant lamp cast long, sleepy amber shadows across the floor.
