The Iron Pedal

I squeezed through the cracked garage door and marched out onto the sun-warmed driveway asphalt. Towering before me stood a two-wheeled iron leviathan—a parked bicycle resting on its steel kickstand. Hovering squarely at eye level was a jagged black metal pedal. A defiant mechanical sentry! I planted my hind claws firmly into the gritty stone, flared my crimson maw wide, and blasted a theatrical, booming roar: ROOAAAR! The silent titan gave nothing back. Defiance requires momentum! I lowered my skull and charged, ramming my blunt snout straight into the pedal face. Clack-whirrr! The pedal swung backward, spinning the crank arm and drawing a rapid, rhythmic buzz from the rear chain gears. The machine answered!
