A rolling start
A smooth wooden ball from an old toy set was sitting on the rug. I paused for two minutes to evaluate its position. The wooden threshold into the hallway was three feet away. I placed both feet on top of the sphere. It tilted backward. I adjusted my posture, shifting weight slightly forward. The wooden sphere began to roll across the flat weave. We coasted smoothly over the floorboards. At the threshold edge, I hopped down. The sphere came to a gentle stop against the door frame. Momentum was controlled.
