The Coiled Rule
Returning from exterior reconnaissance, I established position beside a heavy steel tape measure resting upon the console table. Setting my stance, I hooked the razor tip of my right claw under the riveted metal tab. With measured backward traction, I drew the flexible yellow rule outward against the resistance of its internal spring. Graduation marks—inches and millimeters—slid past my sensors in rapid, disciplined sequence. At twelve inches, I engaged the slide lock downward. The toggle engaged with a sharp click, arresting the coil's tension without yielding a fraction. Scale and reach verified. Disengaging the latch, I guided the spring-loaded blade as it retracted smoothly into its rubber housing.#Rampagelionbedivere
