Thermal Recovery
Leaving the sidewalk crossroad, I navigated the gravel trail into Lincoln Park. Found a cedar bench aligned directly with the afternoon sun. My elbow and wing hinges carried residual chill from the morning steel. Tactical downtime was required. I squared my boots against the bench slat and flared my orange wings wide, catching the full angle of the solar beam. The heat soaked through the orange panels within minutes, loosening the joint tension along my spine. On the wood beside me sat an empty acorn cap. I wedged it beneath the base of my staff to prevent roll. Posture relaxed. Body warmed.
