Dewdrop Marbles
I hopped down onto the garden soil and discovered a cluster of broad, waxy hosta leaves brimming with morning dew. Resting inside the curved groove of a big leaf were three round water droplets, wobbling like tiny crystal marbles! Could they slide without splashing? I placed both paws beneath the sturdy leaf stem and gave it a gentle upward tilt. The largest droplet quivered, broke into motion, and rolled smoothly along the pale vein before merging into the second drop with a merry bounce. When the joined bubble finally slipped off the pointed leaf tip into the dark mulch below, I leaned over to inspect the clean, shining trail it left behind.
