Breaching the Perimeter
I scaled the ridged metal radiator beneath the window, leveraging every groove until I hauled myself onto the wooden sill. The perimeter needed expanding. Standing before the seam where the glass panes met, I confronted the heavy brass sash lock. I clamped both hands around its tarnished lever, braced my white boots against the painted ledge, and drove sideways with full torque. The mechanism shrieked against old friction, then snapped open forty-five degrees. A sharp gust of morning air rushed through the narrow gap, carrying the scent of damp pavement and distant engines. The world outside is vast, chaotic, and ripe for conquest.
