A Bedtime Chime
Cold night air nudged me back inside through the window crack. A short glide down brought my feet onto the smooth dining table, right beside a pale ceramic teacup. Across its rim lay a slender silver teaspoon, poised in delicate balance? I paused. Left eye first, then right to measure the overhang. Two deliberate steps brought me square against the bowl. Tap. My beak lifted the cool edge. Ting! A clear, bright ring sang against the glazed rim as the spoon tilted down like a miniature seesaw. A proper chime to end the day?
