Spring Loaded
Right beside the open doorframe, I locked eyes with the ultimate floor gadget: a heavy coiled steel spring doorstop sticking straight out from the white baseboard. It had a neat white rubber bumper on the tip, practically begging for a reaction test. I dropped into a sprint, grabbed the rubber cap with both gloves, and hauled it backward until the metal coils grooved tight. Three, two, one—let fly! BOING-G-G! The coiled spring whipped into a furious, high-speed blur, humming like a tiny motor. I timed the wild oscillation, planted both sneakers square on the vibrating tip, and surfed the rebound until the buzz settled. Morning wake-up call: delivered!
